Home SHIRLEY CALDER Shirley is a Equine Bowen Therapist/Equine Dentist based near Ohaupo, Waikato, New Zealand.
Hailing from a horsey family with her father, now retired,
having been a farmer, thoroughbred owner-trainer, amateur jockey as well as an
equine dentist. Her brother Bruce is the Master of the Rotorua/Bay of Plenty
Hunt and is a successful show jumper. Shirley is dual qualified in Equine Bowen Therapy with EMRT (AUS) 2002 and EBT (UK) 2007. She has completed four Equine Craniosacral courses with Maureen Rogers from the US. Thus she is able to address a wide range of conditions in the horse from the physical to the energetic.
A successful
equestrian competitor for over 30 years in all disciplines in the lower
north island including Grand Prix pony show jumping and Pony Club
Champs. Shirley attained her A and H Pony Club certificates and has been
a B Certificate examiner. On Checkmate she won the

Shirley has been a working pupil for Andrew Nicholson (NZ Olympic Three Day Team Member) and Dane Rawlins (British Dressage Representative and Coach) in the UK and Nick Holmes-Smith (Canadian Olympic Three Day Team Member) in Canada.

Shirley is a Grade 1 NZEF Coach and regularly takes clinics for pony clubs and adult riders. She is an Instructor for the American School of Equine Dentistry and has instructed in New Zealand and the US as well as coordinating continuing education for the ASED graduates in NZ. Shirley has recently been appointed the New Zealand Instructor for the European College of Equine Bowen Therapy (UK). She also facilitates courses for overseas instructors to make information and new techniques available to New Zealand horseowners.
